Hot 100: Lil Nas X Scores 19th Week At #1 With ‘Old Town Road’

Published: Monday 12th Aug 2019 by Sam

Lil Nas X continues to enjoy big success on the Billboard Hot 100.

For, fresh from snatching Mariah Carey’s 23 year record, he’s creating quite the chart narrative for himself. One that’ll be a tall task to follow for releases of tomorrow.

Full story below…

Already the longest running #1 in Hot 100 history, ‘Old Town Road’ has now racked up its 19th week atop of the tally.

The feat was powered by 58.8 million US streams, 34,000 digital downloads, and a multi-format radio audience of 38.5 million.

Interestingly, compared to last week, the song has seen declines across all metrics – a 13% dip in streams, a 28% drop in digital downloads, and a 11% fall on radio.

Still, it remains #1 on the separate Streaming and Digital Sales tallies. Suggesting that there be more mileage yet in this mega smash.

    #LEGEND

Also idk why the word GAY has to be thrown into every lil nas x… He doesn’t represent gays he represents himself as an individual. He’s not corney like fay ppl are so I still consider him a misinformed straight homosexual.

Amen people forget he is a very young man so he is still finding his way

      • SMH August 13, 2019

Um no, he’s 20 years old. He’s grown enough to know exactly who he is.

X is not corny like gay ppl are so I still consider him to be just a misinformed straight person that hapoena to be homosexual. I would advise him to not support the rainbow however.

Ps this record will NEVER be beaten not even 100 years from now. Haters shall continue to seethe

Gluttony honey. I’ll pray for you.

I actually think this record WILL be broken at some point. The reality is that we are now in an era where streaming dominates, and 5-month reigns at the top are possible.

Congrats to Lil Nas X on this achievement, and he certainly broke the record in a technical sense, but it’s hard to compare this to One Sweet Day, for example, which charted in a very different chart universe. Using the metrics that kept One Sweet Day at the top for 16 weeks, OTR would have relinquished the crown weeks ago — simply b/c streaming did not exist in the 90s., and OTR’s sales/airplay stats would not still rank the highest among all songs.

@Diabetes you’re an idiot. Stop commenting please, you’re only proving how dumb and misinformed YOU are.
